Accomplishments

Lori and Deb are true leaders in their field and have received accolades for their service to their profession as well as for publications they have developed.

AMWA Fellowship 

In 2010, Lori was honored with AMWA fellowship, which is given to AMWA members who have made significant contributions to the goals and activities of the organization.

2009 AMWA President’s Award

Lori was honored with this award, which is given annually by the AMWA President to an AMWA member of 10 years or more who has made distinctive contributions at the chapter or national level, without having served on the Executive Committee.  

2009 Bronze EXCEL Award: Scholarly Journals—General Excellence

The AMWA Journal which was recognized with the Bronze EXCEL Award, sponsored by the Association Media and Publishing (formerly the Society of National Association Publications [SNAP]). EXCEL awards represent “the pinnacle of peer recognition and the seal of excellence in association publishing.”

2009 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Plain Language Award

Lori’s authorship of the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI’s) Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) 2007 Overview and Highlights was recognized with a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Plain Language Award. The NIH Plain Language Awards are given to publications that “best exemplify the clear and concise writing that helps improve communication within NIH, as well as between NIH, other government entities and the public.” (The 119-page full-color brochure was created to highlight the return on 10 years of investment and expectation in DCCPS in reducing the burden of cancer in America.) 

2005 ASCO Special Recognition Award

Deborah was honored with the ASCO Special Recognition Award for her exemplary service and contributions to the Society. She is the only staff member to have ever received the award.
